Our children service offers three services weekly starting at 10.45AM in the shul classrooms. Our Aleph service is for those aged 0-3 (up to school nursery), Bet for those aged 3-5 (nursery - Year 1) and Gimmel for those aged 6+ (Year 2+). Aleph focuses on songs with plenty or props and interactions. Bet mixes new songs with basic davening and learning about the parsha in fun and interactive ways. Gimmel focuses on davening for The Children's Siddur and learning about the parsha through games and quizzes. All parents are encouraged to consider the appropriate service for their child based on age and stage rather than specific age or school year. We are reliant on our wonderful parents to help run the services, if you would interested please contact Emma Gordon or the shul office.
Aside from our weekly children services, we provide a variety of fun opportunities throughout the year. This includes events marking chagim including Sukkot, Chanukkah and Shavuot. We have a special Rosh Hashanah kiddush and a full programme on Yom Kippur including activities for Yamlets and lunch provided. We also run family friendly megillah readings and events on Purim and opportunities to give back to the community including encouraging kids involvement in Mitzvah Day and packing mishloach manot for the elderly of the community. We also have Yamlets Friday Nights during the year, Yamlets Kumzitz on Motzei Shabbat, movie nights and a Horim V'Yeladim programme.
Yamlets are a focus for the community and we aim to celebrate them as much as possible. This includes Birthday Pekelach given by the Rabbi each month, Graduation Kiddush at the end of summer and Children's Chatanim and N'shei Chayil on Simchat Torah. We know to make a shul truly child friendly, we must also provide for the parents. We ensure to have extra shofar blowing on Rosh Hashanah, torah reading on Parshat Zachor and a special Yom Kippur programme.
