As part of the British Board of Deputies adopt a hostage scheme, YAM and Yeshurun have adopted Evyatar David and Eitan Levy. We will be including their names as part of the prayers for safe return of all the hostages and putting a chair in each minyan aside reserved for them to mark their absence.
Evyatar David – Evyatar Ben Gila – אביתר בן גילה
Evyatar David was abducted from the music festival in Re’im along with his childhood friend Guy Gilboa-Dalal. In the morning of the attack, Evyatar told his mother on the phone that there were rocket attacks and he has not been heard from since. Later that day, Hamas released a video of him on Telegram, lying on the ground, frightened, while someone shone a flashlight on him. At the beginning of August 2025, Hamas released a video of 24-year-old Evyatar David, looking extremely frail and emaciated.
Evyatar is a talented musician who plays acoustic and classical guitar. He is the son of Gilia and Avishai, has an older brother, Ilay and a younger sister Yaela.
Eitan Levy
On the morning of October 7, Eitan Levy took a taxi ride from Rishon LeZion to Kibbutz Be’eri. At 7.30 am he called his family to inform them that rockets had been fired, ten minutes later his son heard him screaming for help and heard sounds of him struggling. The phone call remained connected and the family could hear what was happening until 8.30 am. They heard someone ask Eitan his name. They have since lost contact with him. On 8 December 2023, the family was informed that Eitan was murdered and his body remains held by Hamas.
