Torah Cover Appeal – Dancing Through Tears

Dear Members, On October 7th, over 1200 people were murdered and hundreds more taken hostage. Since October 7th, Approximately 400 more have lost their lives on the battlefield and in captivity.

Simchat Torah is a day of joy, festivity and hakafot – where we dance and celebrate. But Simchat Torah this year will mark the first yartzheit for the victims of October 7th.

One way we as a community can commemorate the yarzheit, whilst continuing to mark Simchat Torah, is through a global initiative being run by Mizrachi, named ‘Dancing through Tears’.

The objective is for 1,600 communities across the world to dance with Sifrei Torah, with Torah covers each bearing the name of one of the 1600 victims.

Yeshurun and YAM will jointly be supporting this initiative, aiming to raise $1,800 (roughly £1,500), which will cover the cost of one of these Torah covers.

This is a wonderful initiative that will allow us to come together as a community to mark the yartzhiet whilst continuing with our Simchat Torah celebrations.

We reach out to our community help support this initiative by donating via the following link –https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=DSLGCFC98CYQS

Should you have any specific questions , please feel free to reach out to Ben Assor who is heading up the campaign on behalf of the shul – Bassor@hotmail.co.uk

We will be providing the community with regular updates as we aim towards reaching our target.
